neon, and directly after this the jail was evacuated, the sick having been transferred to the " old jail" hospital, and the other prisoners (with the exception of the women and children and under-trial prisoners who were sent to the subsidiary jail, and the civil debtors who were removed on the 4th to the camp jail) marched to sheds about two miles from Palamcottah. On the night of the 6th another of the men, attacked on the 5th, died. On the 7th, two fresh cases were reported, and these having been transferred to hospital, the prisoners were marched from the sheds to a chattram (about a mile from the sheds and three miles from Palamcottah) in which they remained enjoying good health until the 28tli December, when they were marched back and confined again in the old jail. No case has occurred since the 7th. Of the four prisoners attacked on the 5th November a third died on the 17th December, from what seemed to be the sequehe of cholera from which he never thoroughly rallied. There were then eight admissions altogether?four on the 5th, two on the 6th, and two on the 7th November; and three deaths?one on the 5th, one
